Paula Deen’s Diabetes Announcement

Fans and experts are reacting to Paula Deen's revelation that she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2008.

For starters, fellow celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain took a shot at her on Twitter for disclosing her news only after she had a drug endorsement deal lined up, writing: "Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later."

Last night on HLN's Showbiz Tonight, Dancing With the Stars pro Louis Van Amstel said, "I have a good idea, activity is the best thing. If Paula Deen goes on Dancing with the Stars, I would love to have her as my partner and she is going to become an inspiration! How about it?!"

And, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in a recent report named her Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible as one of the five unhealthiest cookbooks of 2011. She is the only chef who has made it onto the list twice over the last three years, for high-fat recipes that raise the risk for obesity, heart disease and diabetes. And now the group has sent her a letter urging her to try a vegan diet for 21 days.
