WE'RE very excited to hear reports that Beyonce has given birth to a baby girl named Blue Ivy Carter.
The Destiny's Child star is rumoured to have given birth by scheduled caesarean section at a New York hospital.
The 30-year-old's husband and proud dad Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, was present at the hospital as the couple welcomed their first child.
Friends of the music stars were quick to offer their congratulations on Twitter with Rihanna posting: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons also tweeted his joy at the good news.
"congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z" he wrote.
After initial confusion over the name, close friend Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed that the baby has been named Blue Ivy Carter.
She also added: "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already."
